News & Minutes
As you may or may not be aware there are several proposals for development of onshore windfarms in the Ochils. Two of these, Craighead Farm Windfarm and Brunt Hill Windfarm to the north of Carnbo, will directly impact on the Fossoway Community and for which we are consultees.
• Craighead Farm (Galileo) is located approximately 6km north west of Carnbo. The current proposal is 8 turbines with a maximum blade tip height of 200m and will generate up to 48MW of energy. As the generating capacity is now below 50MW, the proposed development is now classed as a Major Development, which means that it will be determined by Perth and Kinross Council and requires Galileo to undertake statutory pre-application consultation. A Proposal of Application Notice (PAN) will shortly be submitted, informing key stakeholders such as the Council, Community Council and Councillors as to Galileo’s intentions regarding the statutory consultation.
• Brunt Hill (E-Power) is located approximately 5km north west of Kinross. The current proposal is 18 turbines with a maximum blade tip height of 200m will generate up to 130MW of energy with 65MW of battery storage. Due to its size and generating capacity this proposal is classed as a Section 36 application and will be decided by the Scottish Government. Perth & Kinross Council will be a statutory consultee and the CC will have an opportunity to contribute to their decision making.
• There is a further proposal - Windburn north of Alva which falls within the PKC boundary. This will comprise up to 14 wind turbines, with an installed capacity of approx. 70 MW and associated infrastructure. This will again be a Section 36 application.
Community Opinion Survey
The development companies have carried out statutory consultation with the communities affected and we have seen the initial proposals changed in response to that consultation. However, for the Community Council to represent and voice the views of the community fully and impartially to the developers, to Perth & Kinross Council and possibly to Scottish Government, we believe it is vitally important that we hear from you - the residents of Fossoway – for all your opinions.
To allow us to gather that information we would ask that you complete the following Community Survey. You can do so online or if you prefer use the paper copy that we are distributing to all households and for which we have arranged drop off points throughout Fossoway. Or you can email fossoway.cc@gmail.com The Survey closes on 30th November after which time we will collate the responses.
